ABOUT USBACKYARDSWIMLESSONS.CA was born as RecXperience Aquatic Services Provider in 2004. More and more opportunities to bring private aquatic programs to the community have bubbled up, but nothing has motivated this need in our communities as before the pandemic hit. The reality of lowered capacity and cumbersome registration opportunities at municipal and private aquatic facilities means less access to an essential life skill and to physical and mental wellness. We create new spaces for aquatic instruction, safely. |
OUR GOALSTo provide new opportunities to participate in swim instruction, aquatic fitness and to learn essential lifesaving skills.
To provide more access to physical and mental fitness through aquatic activity. To provide new spaces for kids to learn to swim by enrolling residential pool owners in becoming hosts for delivery of essential aquatics programs. To provide employment to aquatics professionals during reduced hours and reduced capacity (and beyond) at aquatic facilities. To provide professional, focused, tailored swim instruction and aquatic fitness programs at residential pools. |
When Cat Trudeau realized in the summer of 2020 that her son would not be on the swim team by the age of 4, a spark re-ignited what she had created at school in 2004: a killer business plan. A competitive and recreational swimmer since the age of 4 herself, Cat instructed for a mobile swim lesson company in Scottsdale, AZ in 1998, before returning to the Scottsdale/PV YMCA as the Aquatic Director for the last of her 7 year tenure at the outdoor, year-round pool. During those 7 years, Cat became the most certified aquatic professional in the State of Arizona. Having achieved Master Trainer level for both Lifeguarding and Swim Instruction, Cat relocated to Vancouver's South Slope YMCA in 2000 to introduce new YMCA aquatic programs in Canada. Cat also acquired the BCRPA Aquatic Fitness certification to round out her American aquatic fitness certificates. Cat has successfully designed and implemented various commercial and private swim programs. She is a talented, intuitive instructor, a razor sharp lifeguard and is completely dedicated to the highest standard of instruction and quality in program delivery. |
"The need to provide more access to aquatic programs has gone into overdrive - our kids need swimming lessons NOW, everyone needs aquatic fitness to stay healthy and happy. |
